Our ProgramsOUR SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY PROGRAMS- KIDS ACCESS TO ORTHODONTICS PROGRAM (KATOP) - KIDS ACCESS TO ORAL CARE (KATOC) These programs provide oral/dental care and orthodontic services to children and adolescents who have minimal or poor access to dental and specialty services. The typical patient has coverage that is not accepted at most general dental, pediatric and orthodontic practices in the Twin Cities and surrounding areas and includes the children of our nation’s military personnel. The coverage is marginal and leaves the dental practice with the bulk of the financial costs. Lack of oral health care for children can: - cause extreme pain and infection - result in hospitalizations and very severe illness - lead to long-term problems in adulthood including heart disease. Lack of orthodontic services can: - be personally, physically, psychologically and functionally crippling - affect the ability to obtain a job and other amenities in society - have lifelong social and economic effects and limitations. The impact of these programs on our patients and their families has been immense. To qualify for KATOP, patients must: - Be in the care of either a General or Pediatric dentist - Be referred to Dr. Angela Wandera & Associates by their dentist. To qualify for KATOC, specific insurance coverage is necessary. Please call our office if you have interest or questions in these programs. |
